Congress has not passed a budget for the last three years, though they are "required" to do so each year. This is unacceptable. Both sides (right and left) have, for the most part, holed up in their bunkers and refused to vote on the issues at hand.
Congress seems to prefer the sequester to any situation in which they don't get everything they want. This unwillingness to work together has led to a stagnant deadlock in Washington, much to the detriment of the American people.
Compromise (defined as MUTUAL concession) needs to happen. There are some things that the members of Congress undisputedly agree on: money, benefits, and the desire for reelection. I propose that we take these things away until a compromise is reached and a budget with short AND long term goals is passed.
