The one-cent coin, the penny, should be eliminated as a unit of currency in the United States.

It is an outdated unit of currency that has little value in today's economy. Many people do not like dealing with lots of change or scrounging around for a penny. Rounding up, would solve the issue of having to deal with the inconvenience with carrying lots of change.

More key factors:

Pennies cost more to produce, than their actual value. It takes 2.4 cents to mint a penny,

The average worker earns a penny every 2 seconds. It is not worth the time and effort to bend over, and pick a penny off of the ground.

Pennies aren't event accepted at vending machines or toll booths. It becomes less and less useful to carry pennies around.

It would not raise prices by a significant amount.
