When the pledge was written and adopted in congress, it originally had the phrase "One Nation, Indivisible". In June of 1954, Congress formally amended Section 7 of the flag code and changed it to "One Nation, Under God" as suggested by Louis A. Bowman.
The term "In God we Trust" was adopted as the official motto of the United States of America in 1956, replacing the old unofficial motto of " E pluribus unum" (Latin for 'Out of many, one', or 'One out of many'.)
We believe that both terms should be removed from the Pledge and all Federal currencies. It is definitely very unconstitutional. As well as providing ground for a divisive populace between those of various faiths and those of no faith.
