Remove the power of congress to approve their own pay raises

Created by J.S. on January 11, 2013

Roll back salaries of elected officials and remove the power of Congress to approve their pay raises. The voters alone will have the authority to increase the pay of all elected officials. The voters will have the power to increase and decrease the tax rate of the elected officials. Prohibit members of congress from accepting donations, contributions, and gifts from corporations, special interest groups, and anyone that that does not reside in their district. Donations, contributions, and gifts are acceptable if they come from individuals that permanently reside in their district with a $1,000 annual limit.
Congress is elected by the people to represent the people. Elected officials are overly concerned about lining their pockets and not representing the voters that elected them.
