remove the provision in the Affordable Health Care Act which allows higher premiums for smokers

Created by R.M. on January 28, 2013

The Affordable Care Act punishes smokers while preventing higher premiums for the overweight. Presently the health care cost for the obese has surpassed the health care costs of smokers. 2030 projections indicate the health care cost of obesity will surpass the health care cost of smoking, alcoholism and drug abuse combined.
Mr. President, while I fully support efforts to control health care costs, if the Affordable Care Act is going to punish those who choose to engage in unhealthy endeavors, then obesity should be at the top of the list (along with smokers, alcoholics and drug abusers).
I am a not-smoker.
