H1B non-immigrants who have applied for permanent residency through their employers are at significant risk when deciding to purchase a home,this is a major deterrent for such folks with the monetary ability to purchase homes in the US, the first step towards American dream.
We H1Bs are here in this country,contributing in every way but forced to live in rented apartments due to the uncertainty in immigration status,many of us hesitate to buy a home and wait almost a decade or more for permanent residency.
President/Congress should consider special provisions for fast-tracking permanent residency and removal of quotas for those folks who have had substantial presence and commit to stay in the country long term by purchasing a Home,needless to say how this will help our economy.
