Remove the radioactive waste from the West Lake Landfill in St. Louis County before it catches fire.

The West Lake Landfill has been home to improperly deposited nuclear waste from the Manhattan Project since 1973, and nearby residents have higher than normal incidents of cancer and rare disease. One thousand feet away sits the 16-acre large subterranean fire at the Bridgeton Landfill, which has been spewing toxins into the air and causing irritation and disease in residents. If the fire reaches the nuclear waste, it would be an environmental catastrophe. The EPA has done little for years, has failed to respond adequately to complaints, and has covered up information about the extent of the problem. Take it out of the EPA's hands and treat it like the security threat it is, so we can do disaster prevention rather than cleanup.
