Remove references to "God" from the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools

Created by A.S. on October 29, 2015

At public schools, students are expected to stand up during school hours and pledge allegiance to our country. So, when we are told that we have to pledge allegiance not only to America, but to God, it is a bit unsettling. This is clearly stated in our nation's First Amendment, saying that there should be freedom of religion; therefore a separation of church and state. There are people who do not believe in just one, or any god. A student can be punished for refusing say the Pledge of Allegiance; even if it is against their religion. The public education system should not be associated with religion. This is just a small step towards absolute religious freedom and anti-discrimination. So we, the citizens of the USA, ask that you officially remove the religion from the Pledge of Allegiance.
