On May 26th, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) stood on the US House floor and gave a speech calling the LGBTQ community unnatural and perverse. In 2016, his views do not align with the overwhelming majority of Americans nor the position of the Obama administration in regards to the LGBTQ community.
Rep. Gohmert's views go beyond being offensive. His views are outright dangerous given his position as a member of the Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice. This committee has jurisdiction over such topics as constitutional amendments, constitutional rights, and Federal civil rights.
We ask the Federal Government to advocate for the removal of Rep. Gohmert from his position on this civil rights committee as his views do not deserve a platform such as this in our government.
