The Republican Congress put forth a law, when most of Congress was on its way home during the holidays a few years back, that required the US Postal Service to set aside BILLIONS in funds to provide retirement for postal workers that have not even been born as of today. No other government agency is required to do this. This is why the USPS is in the red and why our postage continues to rise every year. This is also why the USPS is closing operation centers and smaller post offices - a loss of American JOBS.
Either the Congress makes this the policy for all government agencies or the Congress removes this requirement from the USPS. Remember the USPS is a stand alone agency and supports itself though postage collected/packages shipped and not from the general government.
