The restriction on gay male blood donors is outdated and homophobic. AIDS and other diseases are just as prevalent among the heterosexual community. Donated blood is carefully tested, and risky sexual activity is not just a homosexual thing. By effectively banning gay men from donating, the Red Cross and other organizations are losing thousands, perhaps millions of healthy, civic-minded donors.
