Employees on group coverage are required to stay on the group insurance policy until open enrollment, in which they are allowed to cancel. They are not allowed to cancel until the open enrollment period. Therefore, if they are unable to pay their bills (utilities, rent, etc) because their premiums are high, they cannot cancel their policy in order to pay for day-to-day necessities.
Please require insurance companies to remove these restrictions so that we, the people of the United States of American, can use the exchanges to locate affordable health care coverage. Removing these restrictions will allow consumers the freedom to take advantage of the discounts available to them and become an advocate for their own health care.
