The current laws and sanctions concerning relations between Cuba and the United States are based on aggression and animosity that has long since ceased to be an issue or threat to the way of life of American citizens.
Travel to Cuba is heavily restricted for U.S. citizens, who must meet many requirements in order to be eligible for travel between the two nations.
Also, trade between the two nations is non-existent. There are severe penalties currently in place for individuals who attempt trade, forcing many merchants to turn to illegal trade in order to make a living. Also, currency exchange between American and Cuban money is extremely limited.
Lifting these restrictions will not only bolster the ailing U.S. economy, but will also garner respect from many Cuban-American citizens.
