Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) is not qualified to hold a position overseeing the Environmental Protection Agency or any other committee with a basis in science.
Since becoming a US Senator, Sen. Inhofe has been among the most prominent climate-change sceptics in Washington. For instance, he once compared the EPA to the Gestapo and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to “a Soviet-style trial, in which ideological purity trumps technical and scientific rigour.” Now this man possesses one of the most important environmental jobs in Congress.
While there may be nothing inherently wrong in holding a belief in the divine such as those held by Mr. Inhofe, we the people should not permit these beliefs to deny or ignore the importance of environmental and scientific issues and research.
