Short Barrel Rifles and Shotguns should be removed from the NFA list because they are no more dangerous than standard rifles and shotguns. They are actually less dangerous because the velocities are lower. Another reason is that it is perfectly legal to purchase a rifle with a barrel less than 16 inches without a tax stamp as long as it doesn't have a stock. It is also legal to purchase a shotgun with a barrel shorter than 18 inches with only a $5 tax stamp as long as it doesn't have a stock. Suppressors have a practical purpose of reducing the need for hearing protection on some firearms, others will still need hearing protection depending on the velocity and caliber.
