This petition aims to remove the requirement for a Chief Local Law Enforcement Officer or (CLEO) to sign Section 17 of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) Form 4, for the purchase and possession of a firearms suppressor as defined by the "National Firearms Act of 1934" 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(24)
Simply because of personal and political bias, Many CLEO's refuse to sign section 17. Possibly infringing on the 2nd amendment of the Constitution. This applies to ALL NFA items. However this petition aims to make only "suppressors" as defined in 18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(24) exempt of the CLEO signature requirement.
These items are legal to posses in most states provided a $200 tax is paid to the BATFE and you are legally able to possess a firearm
