We are told not to carry our social security cards on us to prevent identity theft in case we lose a wallet or purse or have it stolen. But then we turn 65 and we are sent a medicare card with the social security number as the primary means of identification. Remove the social security number from the medicare card and use another method for identification, An identification could easily be done with just a name, birth date and the last 4 digits from the SSN. There is no need for the full SSN to be on the medicare card.
