The Democratic party presidential candidate is chosen by delegates. 80% of those delegates are chosen by voters, and 20% are "superdelegates", who are party insiders and not selected by voters. These delegates are allowed to vote for any candidate they want to, without regard for the wishes of the voters.
These superdelegates were put into place to prevent "grass roots activists" from winning the nomination, meaning anyone who is not part of the party elite. A candidate would need to win 62.5% of the popular vote in order to secure the nomination without the support of the superdelegates. This has *never* happened.
End these rigged primaries and restore the integrity of the Democratic party nomination process by removing superdelegates. Let the people choose their candidate.
