The National Firearms Act of 1934(NFA) limited the ease of availability of certain types of firearms to the general public. One of the categories that was put on the list of limits was Silencers(suppressors). Silencers are very beneficial to the shooting public and non-shooting public, they limit the sound coming from the firearm much like a muffler limits the sound from a car's engine. We are one of the only countries in the world that doesn't REQUIRE the use of suppressors on our firearms even countries that are very unfriendly to gun ownership. It simply makes sense for silencers to be very accessible to the shooting public for hearing protection. We don't tell motorists to wear ear plugs now do we?
