This petition proposes the express repeal of Trans* discriminatory disqualifiers in the Department of Defense’s “Medical Standards for Enlistment, Appointment and Induction in the Military Services.” Specifically, the disqualifier of genital and gonad abnormalities that include but are not limited to, any gender reassignment surgery or intersex features, along with the psychological disqualifier of Trans* identities, incorrectly characterized as a psychosexual disorder, should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to prove that these aspects of an enlisting recruit would sufficiently impede their capacity to perform the standard and stated requirements of service.
