The original Pledge of Allegiance did not include the words "Under God." This phrasing does not respect Americans who are non-Christian and is not vital to the pledge as a whole. This may alienate or offend Americans who do not believe in "God." A simple solution is to take the words out, going back to the pre-1950's pledge.
