I myself am a young atheist living in a fairly religious area. Having to recite the Pledge every morning during school can be a challenge.
Sometimes I am asked why I don't recite the pledge like everyone else; I don't really have an answer because I am often ridiculed for my beliefs.
I may not be a congressman or another person of great stature, but I remember Roger Williams who believed in the separation of church and state. I am not forced to say this, however, I don't feel free.
