Remove "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance and "in God we trust" from United States currency.

Created by N.A. on February 24, 2014

As we all know, one of the founding principles of our nation is that of the freedom of religious expression. It is the opinion of myself, and all who sign this petition that religion should be expressed freely and individually, not uniformly and nationally on currency and in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The founding fathers wanted to make abundantly clear the fact that the U.S. is not by any means a Christian nation, and in their time "under God" & "in God we trust" did not exist where they do currently. It was only during the civil war that the phrase appeared on US coinage and in the 1950's that it appeared in the pledge and on paper money.

Religious expression should be kept out of governmental policy and papers. One should express religion in their hearts and minds, not in their wallets
