Separation of church and state is a notion this nation was founded on and in the 1950's this nation violated that separation. In order to fight the "Godless Communists" this nation added "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance and "In God We Trust" to our monies. This nation was founded in the principle of being a nation, not a Christian nation, not a nation in which we trusted God or were under God. We were a nation that trusted his fellow man and woman, and equally we were under our fellow man and woman ones that were only above us by election and not by supernatural causes.
This petition is a not a statement against God, much less and religion. It is a statement that we need not violate one of the most central principles of this nation: separation of church and state
