Remove the unfair and unacceptable HHS contraception coverage mandate

Created by J.T. on November 16, 2012

In January, the Department of Health and Human Services unveiled a policy known as the “HHS Mandate”. It requires employee insurance plans funded by private organizations to cover contraception, even if it violates their beliefs. The administration attempted to stop objections by requring insurance companies to fund it, but it's still problematic: the organizations are funding the plan and if the companies can afford to cover it, they can afford to reduce prices and not provide the coverage. While the mandate does not force religious institutions to pay this, it defines a religious institution as an institution which employs and serves only members of one religion. Most religious schools would not be considered religious. We demand the removal of the mandate, or allowing anyone to opt out.
