The government does not collect Social Security/OASDI taxes on earnings above $118,500. Social Security/OASDI is not in solid financial condition. Removing the cap on OASDI withholding would enhance the financial health of the sytem by collection 6.2% tax from wage earners and employers including those earnings over $118,500. The higher income families are best suited to be able to afford the tax and will contribute significantly to the financial health of the Social Security system.
