Presently, if one files for social security prior to their full retirement age, they receive benefits at a reduced rate. They are told that they can work but are limited to $1,290/monthly or $15,480/annually. In the first year, if an early retiree accepts a part-time position and earns more than $1,290/month than they do not receive a check.
Social security is not considered to be a full retirement pension. Therefore, citizens have to use savings or a retirement fund to make up the difference between what they receive from social security and the cost of living.
Since early retirees are already penalized by receiving a smaller check, than they should not be restricted with respect to earning additional income to be able to meet their minimum living expenses.
