REMOVE THE WAIVER FOR EXPANSION OF 418,000 ACRES OF THE PINON CANYON MANEUVER SITE IN LAS ANIMAS COUNTY. COLORADO

Created by P.O. on October 27, 2011

The Department of Defense issued a waiver to the major land acquisition moritoriaum for the expansion and acquisition of land in the private sector of our agricultural industry for 418,000 acres to the Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site, that already has 234,000 acres, which is the largest military facility in the state of Colorado. It is located in southeastern Colorado in the heart of our agricultural industry. Fort Carson has adequate acreage between Fort Carson Proper and PCMS to do good training for our military men and women. We are not anti-military; we feel that 234,000 is ample acreage for a maneuver site. Back in 1983 when they started PCMS, 50% was taken with eminent domain; 25% friendly domain at request of landowners attorneys for tax purposes and only three land speculators sold.
