Remove the words "under god" from the Pledge of Allegiance

Created by M.S. on January 29, 2014

In the United States, atheists are a ever growing minority. With a First Amendment guarantee of freedom of religion, we believe that Americans have a basic right to refuse religion. Many children are indoctrinated with a belief in god at such a young age that they are unfit to think critically about it. We propose to make the Pledge of Allegiance a tool to show patriotism, not one to force religion upon young Americans. This is not only a problem of education, but one of principle. John Adams wrote, "This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it." This country was not founded as a religious nation; we believe that we must be one nation, separate from any god.
