United States Coal Industry restrictions must be reviewed to view the current and future complications these reforms have and may create for the country. These restrictions are creating mass job loss within areas of the country that rely on coal as the sole industry for its people. These reforms are removing one of the countries largest export industries during the time of the largest ever United States deficit. If patterns continue we could see these areas fall into major decline much like that of Flint, Michigan during the 1980's with the removal of General Motors factories from the city. The difference will be that these effects will be felt by government created regulations. Steps must be taken to restructure the restrictions on the coal industry before its destroyed beyond repair.
