There are currently at least ten Army posts named for Confederate Army personnel. Installations such as Fort Bragg (named for Braxton Bragg, a Confederate General) should be renamed to honor US Army personnel who distinguished themselves in the service of the United States such as Alvin York. It is senseless to begin with that the US Army would have installations named for people who actively engaged in hostile battles against the US Army. This petition calls on the Federal Government to have the US Army review all installation naming conventions and rename these posts as appropriate.
