The African American story is not only told through the eyes, ears and hearts of blacks but through all Americans. Many slaves wouldn't have reached freedom without the safe haven from Rev. John Rankin. And we can't forget what the ruling on Brown vs. the Board of Education of Topeka, from an all white Supreme Court, did for the Civil Rights Movement. As an African American I can't deny the fact that my ancestors wouldn't have been able to give me the gift of my life without the courage of so many people of the majority.
