The best protection from disease is health. The cheapest health care is to NOT need it.
When the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) started, our health, as a society hadn't deteriorated to where it has, today. Prevention IS the major concensus strategy of the future, yet isn't even reflected in the acronym "CDC".
Let's have the priorities of our institutions reflected in the names of our institutions...Centers for Disease Prevention and Control.
I believe that this petition is a reasonable FIRST step toward aligning one of our most important institutions with its true purpose and priority.
***** I believe a good SECOND step would be to rename the CDC to Centers for Health, Disease Prevention and Control. (CHDPC)...again, reflecting the needs & priorities of our society.
