Rename Columbus Day to First Responder Remembrance Day (FRRD).

Created by R.B. on September 08, 2015

First, it is debatable on who discovered the New World.

Also, some states are already altering Columbus Day to other days such as Native American Day.

Times are changing, and so should this holiday. Remembering our 1st responders (Law Enforcement, Firefighters, EMTs, etc.) whose lives were taken in the line of duty would be an exceptional way to replace a questionable holiday.

Beginning 12 October 2015 & every FRRD thereafter, the POTUS will:

1. Illuminate the White House "Blue" from 0001 to 2359.
2. Address the nation on the importance of 1st responders in a speech given on the White House lawn.
3. Host a ceremony awarding posthumous decorations to fallen 1st responders.

It starts at the top! Our president should lead by example & maybe the nation will follow.
