Rename Columbus Day October 10th to Indigenous People's Remembrance Day. (Native's Day) and keep it a Federal holiday.

I believe October 10th should be Renamed and Honored as Indigenous People’s Remembrance Day. To do any less is to co-sign on the atrocities against Native Americans and to pay homage to a known murderer, rapist, and progenitor of slavery, and oppression. This issue impacts ALL Americans. Although many of America’s heroes deserve such recognition, October 10th has been set aside to honor a man who is NOT a hero. The annals of history reveal the savagery and chronicle the unfounded hatred he leveled against millions whom we call Native Americans, just as Americans of African descent have been and continue to be maligned for the hateful ideas of fairer-skinned, European descendants. I submit my petition in order to reflect our true history and to help to bring healing to our country.
