Long ago, the rights of the citizens of the District of Columbia had their noses rubbed in the fact of our lack of representation when Congress named our beloved airport after a Republican demagogue.
This causes confusion for many tourists who refer to the airport by a name that is not in fact recognized by the locals.
It is time to remedy Congress's blunder by giving the people a chance to name their airport.
David Bowie bridged cultures like only a select few beloved artists have. As a bridge builder and inspiration, his memory is a fitting tribute for our national airport. Let legislature's be reminded by this cultural ambassador of tolerance, reinvention, synthesis, and glam, as they fly back and fourth between their home districts and capitol hill.
