Rename the State of Ohio to the State of "McKinley"

Created by H.R. on September 05, 2015

Ohio's elected legislators have asserted that restoring the original name of Denali to Alaska's highest peak dishonors President William McKinley. They argue that in order to remind all Americans of President McKinley's accomplished life and tragic death, Denali's name should immediately be changed back to Mount McKinley.

Given that Ohio's legislators place such importance on remembering President McKinley, the undersigned hereby petition the U.S. Government to change the state name of Ohio to "McKinley."

This change would result in organizations such as the "McKinley State Highway Patrol," the "McKinley National Guard," and countless license plates bearing President McKinley's name. These many reminders would ensure that all Americans remember Ohio's most revered statesman and leader.
