President Obama has announced that Alaska's premier landmark, the former Mt. McKinley has been renamed to its original name, Denali. This has been met with backlash from Ohio's Congressional delegation. Denali was renamed Mt. McKinley to create recognition for William McKinley's nomination as the Republican presidential candidate long before Alaska was recognized as a state, and thus had proper representation in the U.S. government or even a voice in presidential elections. Since many Ohioans are upset that President McKinley's name will no longer grace Alaska's premier mountain despite the fact that McKinley never set foot in Alaska, this petition proposes that the Ohio River be renamed to the Palin River to honor the former vice presidential candidate from Alaska, Sarah Palin.
