Rename portions of federal highways between Atlanta and Savannah the "William Tecumseh Sherman Memorial Highway"

Created by J.O. on November 12, 2012

In the fall of 1864 General William T. Sherman led his troops on the "March to the Sea," capturing Savannah, which brought the end of America's bloody civil war much closer, and thus preserving the Union. Today, much of General Sherman's route is paralleled by interstate highways I-75 and I-16.

In memory of one of America's greatest patriots, this petition asks the government to rename those portions of those highways after General Sherman and add significant places along that route to the National Register of Historic Places.
