We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

Rename the United States Navy Ship USS Harvey Milk to USS Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Created by J.S. on October 06, 2016

While both names represent American men who died while seeking civil rights for their causes. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is the most well known American civil rights political activist, though peaceful on his part he met violence and persevered , he sought and demonstrated a Clear Resolve. Also, this commemorates an American Hero who sees all Americans as Equal! A search of the Navy Vessel Register does not show that we have used such recognition for a true patriotic American Hero. Seeking unity of the American people then and now is the dream of a true statesmen, and what a better way to honor civil rights and equal rights before the law, then naming this navy ship the USS Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (or alternate USS Martin L. King, Jr. USS M.L. King, Jr. or USS DR KING JR)
