We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

Rename USNS Harvey Milk as USNS Chris Stevens

Created by R.H. on August 01, 2016

The US Navy plans to name the Military Sealift oiler T-AO-206 after Harvey Milk, formerly on the San Francisco board of supervisors. The naming is said to be in the tradition of naming ships of that type after civil rights leaders. The ship's name would be the "USNS Harvey Milk".

Ambassador Chris Stevens was was killed in the line of duty as US Ambassador to Libya on September 11, 2012. President Obama described him as a "courageous and exemplary representative of the United States" who "exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe."

Whereas Chris Stevens' gravitas as a fighter for human rights exceeds that of Harvey Milk, T-AO-206 should be named the "USNS Chris Stevens".
