renew the adoption tax credit for 2013.

Created by S.S. on December 19, 2012

The current adoption tax credit is going to expire on December 31, 2013. This credit helps tens of thousands of children find a family out of foster care or foreign/domestic adoptions. Without this credit, thousands of families may not be able to afford the huge cost of adopting a child.

Families adopting children out of foster care are major beneficiaries from this credit. If foster children are not adopted, the government bears the cost of care until they turn 18 or later. This is an estimated cost of $143,000 per child!

The tax credit for 2012 was only $12, 650 and was non-refundable. Join our petition to have the government reinstate the tax credit for 2013 and make it a refundable credit!

Ultimately, $12,650 is much less than the $143,000 they'll pay otherwise!
