In 2005, Private First Class LaVena Johnson was killed. Her death has officially been ruled a suicide but photographs of her autopsy show that Johnson had a broken nose, black eye, loose teeth, burns from a corrosive chemical on her genitals, and a gunshot wound inconsistent with suicide.
As Commander in Chief, with operational command of the armed forces, we urge you to order LTG Flora D. Darpino, the current Judge Advocate General of the US, to reopen the investigation into the death of one of our brave servicewomen.
You have said that you have "no tolerance" for sexual assault and that you want to hold people accountable. Mr. President, now is the time to hold people accountable so that our nation can begin the process of healing.
