Reopen Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge and Battle of Midway National Memorial.

The Midway Atoll, located in the northern Pacific Ocean, is currently closed to visitors. It is unknown as to when it will reopen. According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Atoll “provides nesting habitat for millions of seabirds and is a touchstone for one of the most significant naval battles in our human history." In addition to the few volunteers that are permitted at Midway, it is imperative that visitors continue to be allowed to experience the history, wildlife, and to help with the cleanup and conservation efforts that are currently established there. The Battle of Midway, which occurred from June 4-6, 1942, was a crucial battle during WWII and provided a turning point of the war fought in the Pacific.
