Walter Reed Army Medical Center at 6900 Georgia Avenue was in full operation from 1909 to its closing in 2011. Combining the medical facility with Bethesda Naval has not improved the post deployment process for our recovering veterans. The system is broken when it comes to successful reintegration to civilian society. There is an opportunity here for the Army to reopen the original WRAMC as an innovative and socially responsible entity that has concentrated efforts in recovery and the post deployment transition. This center has infinite possibilities for advocating and supporting our veterans through community involvement, training, family resources, education, mentoring, and social services. DO NOT WASTE THIS HISTORICAL LANDMARK. DO NOT SELL.
