The Obama administration has decided to shut down the White House tours citing "budget cuts". The budget for the White House tours runs under $20,000/week as cited by ABC. The cost to run these tours is so small compared to other budgets, it will not make a difference.
White House tours have been run since 1876 and only stopped for WWI and WWII. It is hard enough even to get tickets since you must get them through Congress. Spring is the time of year many schools plan trips around the White House tours. Many have spent months raising money and getting the tickets. Now those tickets are not being honored.
