December 28 2012 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law a measure that bans the adoption the Russian children by U.S. families, effective January 1 2013. Bill № 186614-6 or Dmitri Yakovlev law could possibly be retaliation for a law that U.S. President Barack Obama signed on December 14, the Magnitsky Act.
We are asking President Obama to use diplomacy to resolve this tragic situation. Propose diplomatic relations which would allow all families who have begun the adoption process in Russia, who have identified a child, met that child, and bonded with that child to be allowed to complete the adoption process.
We are asking that President Obama identify this issue as his highest priority. Children and parents wait for the response of the leader of the United States.
