The undersigned, petition OUR Government for fair and equitable treatment under Federal and State tax laws, in accordance with the 14th Amendment. It is our view that the Supreme Court decision of 1895, declaring the unbalanced taxation of one group based on income level as unconstitutional, should have been heeded. Beyond the unconstitutional nature of the current tax structure, it allows the system itself to be used as a tool of division to stir up animosity and divide Americans.
President Obama claimed he could unite our country once more. We implore him to take that step forward by eliminating a taxation tool that is far too often used as a weapon of division. Let us ALL take pride in the 14th Amendment and the equal protection under the law that is what it was supposed to offer.
