An estimated $400 billion to 500 billion in taxes go uncollected every year in the United States because of tax evasion and noncompliance. It costs nearly $14 billion per year to operate the IRS. When you remove the income tax and re-task the IRS, rename it the SRS (for Sales Revenue Service) you immediately remove the $14 billion it costs to operate the IRS. That 400-500 billion will not go uncollected because sales tax is collected at the counter. This also means a constant, steady flow of revenue. When you tax income, you are taking a large percentage of each paycheck and directly out of the economy. A Sales tax would have collected about 4 trillion dollars last year with an increase in consumer spending that comes with keeping 100% pay. One postcard sized tax form to report on.
