Restore the power of the respective state legislatures to appoint US senators and thus return to what was described for the appointment of US Senators in the Constitution. In this regard, Senators would reflect the sentiments and wishes of the citizens in each state, rather than the views of wealthy out of state citizens, PACs and lobbyists.
It is far more difficult for private entities and groups outside of a particular state to influence 6,000 state representatives than 100 Senators.
Contrary to the presumption that elected Senators provide more power to the people, the use of campaign funds and PACs show that the opposite is true. Restore the power of the people and repeal the 17the Amendment.
